The West Bengal Board Class 10 Results for the 2020 academic year were recently announced on the 28th of July, amidst jubilation and celebration from students and teachers alike. The overall pass percentage was recorded at 81.80%, a quite an impressive feat compared to last year’s figure of 78.99%. Despite the Board examinations being postponed in March due to the country-wide lockdown, the students managed to put in their best and deliver satisfactory performance.
The performances of the students were further boosted by the break in the extended periods of inactivity due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was also observed that the girls outperformed the boys this year, with a pass percentage of 84.83% compared to 79.08% for the boys. However, it needs to be mentioned that the usual exam pattern had to be changed so as to telecast some of the new guidelines of the central government, meeting the highest safety measures of social distancing. All the parts of the examination were now held across various centers, with considerable reduction of seats and a strict vigil maintained by the invigilators.
Notably, the results weren’t released based on the marks attained and the usual grading system of A, B, C and D, but instead eased out the process by grading students based on their overall performance as compared to the other students appearing for the same examination.
Moreover, the State Education Minister, Mr. Partha Chatterjee, was highly delighted with the results, praising the hardwork and enthusiasm put in by the students along with the teachers for their immense help in encouraging the students.
The Board celebrated the success the students had achieved and it’s now looking forward to maintain the same pass percentage and rebuild the shattered education system with greater success.
Congratulations to all of the students!
