The KVPY scheme is open to students studying in XI standard as well as those who are in their first year of any undergraduate course in Science subjects like B.Sc., BE/B.Tech., or any equivalent course in any recognised university or institution. The primary focus of the KVPY scheme is to create lifelong research scientists by awarding merit-based fellowships. This encourages students to pursue a career in research science and provides the necessary financial assistance in developing their research interests.
The KVPY examination is held at three levels: SA, SX, and SB. The SA level is for students of class XI, the SX level for those studying in the first year of an undergraduate course and the SB level for those in the second year of an undergraduate course.
