Sometimes, waiting for the continuation of your favourite game is so unbearable that fans hunt for every bit of information. It often leads to essential plot details, gameplay details, or even entire test versions appearing online!
Let’s tell you about cases of how gamers got an early taste of the most important hits of the game industry and find out the heartwarming plot twists ahead of time. Of course, the world of gambling and casino online कैसीनो में कैसे जीतेे does not have such scandalous leaks but is no less attractive.
Half-Life 2
In its time, Half-Life 2 was an incredibly anticipated game. It was a sequel to one of the best story-driven shooters that promised unprecedented levels of graphics in addition to the story. Unsurprisingly, some fans couldn’t wait for the official release.
- A young hacker named Axel Djembe was able to infiltrate Valve’s internal network and steal a full test version of the game. Although the archive was encrypted with a password, Djembe could decipher it – it turned out to be the word “GABEN”, i.e. the initials of the head of the studio, Gabe Newell.
- Axel did not want to leak the game to the public, but it was done by his friend, with whom he shared a test build. As a result of the leak, the game was postponed for a year and a half and thoughtfully redesigned, but the studio failed to find the culprit.
- However, in 2004, he showed up himself. Axel contacted the studio, confessed everything, and said he wanted to be part of the team. Employees gave him all the information on the hack, after which the young man opened a case. In 2006, he was given two years of probation, but he never became an employee of Valve.
Doom 3
Only Doom 3 could compete in the level of expectations with Half-Life 2 at that time. It’s funny that the game was also early in the hands of users, although the consequences were less catastrophic.
Impatient gamers could only try the demo version, which was leaked by the ATI graphics card manufacturer, with whom the creators of Doom 3 cooperated. Due to the small amount of leaked data, the leak had no impact on the development.
GTA 6
Another recent case that caused a storm of outrage on the Internet. The fifth part of GTA was released in 2013, and since then, we only know about the sequel that will be released someday. In the fall of 2022, the network was a video with 50 minutes of gameplay novelty, which has yet to be announced.
It is believed that the culprit in the hack is a 17-year-old hacker from London, but the case still needs to be fully solved. Given that the gameplay shown in the video is taken from an early version of the game, which is full of bugs and flaws, many users have already had time to get upset in advance because of the low quality of the game. Because of this, many industry colleagues supported Rockstar Studio and posted footage from their games’ early versions, noting that the projects become many times more beautiful by release.
Starcraft 2
The continuation of the famous space strategy was divided into three parts, two of which came out according to plan and without incident. But in the second chapter about the frightening Zerg, there was an unpleasant accident.
The final video, which showed the end of the game and contained a lot of plot spoilers, appeared on the web ahead of time. The highlight was that it still needed to be finished – the video was of low quality, with missing models and poor animation. To this day, it’s still reliably unknown who is to blame for what happened.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
It is another fresh story that has just been in the news. It’s only sometimes the game itself that is leaked to the public – in some cases, materials showing various project details are enough. Furthermore, it is what happened last spring, just a month before the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
The developers tried to keep as many details of the project as possible secret, but several employees of the American retailer Amazon stole different copies of the game. One of them, a 21-year-old Japanese man, stopped showing up for work at some point. Then the bosses called his mom and discovered that the guy had been playing the new “Zelda” for several days. As a result, the young man was forced to pay for the stolen game and fired.
The second case occurred with a 24-year-old Japanese, who also stole an Amazon collector’s edition of the game from the warehouse and posted shots from its artbook on the network. Thanks to this, users learned many game features before being shown in the trailers.
Mass Effect 3
Although Xbox Live was only a game demo a few months before the release, enthusiasts could dig out the entire plot of the trilogy’s final part and even a description of all the unannounced additions. The demo itself was intended only for employees, and in the network, Xbox got accidentally and briefly, but the Internet, as they say, remembers everything.
Responding to the publication, the developers noted that all the materials presented in this version are still being determined and will still have time to change. Ultimately, it turned out to be a half-truth: a significant part had yet to undergo any changes by the time of release.
